Floods have a high impact on society and nature. We can limit damage with knowledge about hydrological processes and accurate warning systems.
We aim to:
- Understand the hydrological processes that cause river floods
- Develop models for forecasting and scenario analyses (to assess the effect of changes in climate, land use and water management)
- Accurately measure and forecast precipitation
- Quantify the uncertainties in simulations
- Compute flood occurrence probabilities
