Content Coordinator / Senior Editor

Do you see the common thread in a stream of stories, developments and ideas? As Content Director/Editor-in-Chief you give direction to WUR's corporate content and ensure that our knowledge, impact and social relevance become visible to the world.

Your position

At Wageningen University & Research (WUR), thousands of researchers, experts and professionals work on issues that are relevant worldwide. From food security and climate change to biodiversity and health. Behind these developments are stories that contribute to WUR's visibility, impact and reputation.

As Content Director/Editor-in-Chief you are responsible for the content management of these stories. You translate strategic themes and social developments into a coherent content approach and ensure that content across different channels reinforces each other. In doing so, you look beyond individual resources or campaigns: you monitor the common thread, bring focus and ensure that the right stories reach the right target groups at the right time.

You are a solid discussion partner for communication advisors, editors and channel managers. With your editorial expertise and sense of social current affairs, you make well-considered choices about content, priorities and positioning. In this way, you contribute to a recognisable and distinctive profile of WUR, both nationally and internationally.

Your place in the organization

You will be part of Corporate Communications & Marketing and work closely with communication professionals, content creators, editors and channel managers within the organization. In your role, you connect strategic themes, target groups and communication channels and give direction to WUR's corporate content.

Your most important tasks

• directing the substantive direction, coherence and prioritization of WUR's corporate content;
• identifying and translating social, scientific and organizational developments into relevant stories and content formats;
• monitoring, further developing and propagating editorial guidelines, tone of voice and quality standards;
• taking care of and coordinating the final editing of high-profile content productions;
• chairing editorial meetings and coordinating with channel managers about content choices and planning;
• monitoring media and online performance and translating insights into improvements in content and approach.

• HBO working and thinking level, with a completed education in journalism, communication or a similar direction;
• at least 5 years of experience in an editorial, content or communication position in which you were responsible for content direction, final editing or content coordination;
• demonstrable experience in developing and realizing content strategies, editorial concepts or narrative formats;
• excellent final editorial skills and extensive experience in monitoring quality, tone of voice and consistency of content;
• experience working for multiple communication channels and media forms, such as online, social media, audiovisual media and print;
• experience in analyzing content performance and translating data and insights into improvements in content and communication.

You are environmentally sensitive and able to quickly recognize social, scientific and organizational developments and translate them into relevant content opportunities. In doing so, you are a strong communicator and have strong communication skills: you know how to include different stakeholders in substantive choices and create support for the direction you choose. You are decisive and organizationally sensitive, which enables you to set priorities and give direction in a complex environment with diverse interests. At the same time, you work in a quality-oriented and analytical way, with a keen eye for editorial quality, coherence and the actual impact of content.

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of between €4.045,-. and €6.228,-. for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 11). Additionally, for this role a contract for 32 hours can be discussed.When it comes to your contract, we initially offer a one-year contract with the intention of converting it to an indefinite contract.
