Biography
Anita Hardon is Professor of Knowledge, Technology and Innovation at Wageningen University & Research. Trained as both a medical biologist and an anthropologist, she conducts interdisciplinary research at the intersection of health, technology and the environment.
Her work explores how people experience and respond to medicines, chemical substances and environmental pollution in their everyday lives. Using collaborative, multi-sited ethnographic and participatory methods, she works closely with communities, researchers, policymakers and activists across different parts of the world.
Her research has addressed topics including pharmaceutical use, global health interventions, young people’s chemical practices, plastic pollution and exposure to substances such as PFAS. She has led major international research programmes, including Chemical Youth and the ERC-funded Embodied Ecologies project, and is committed to developing socially grounded approaches to complex health and sustainability challenges.
