dr. JC (Justin) Tiano
Biography
I am a marine ecologist and fisheries scientist working on the interactions between marine biogeochemistry, benthic ecosystem functioning, fisheries impacts, and ecosystem-based management. My research focuses on how human disturbances such as bottom trawling affect seabed processes, including carbon cycling, nutrient dynamics, and ecosystem functioning.
My work combines field observations, spatial analyses, and ecological modelling to better understand how marine ecosystems respond to environmental change and fishing pressure. Current research includes the assessment of fish stocks in Dutch waters, seabed carbon dynamics, and the development of ecosystem-based approaches to marine resource management.
Research interests: marine biogeochemistry, seabed carbon, benthic ecology, bottom trawling impacts, fisheries science, ecosystem modelling, North Sea ecosystems.
