dr. IYM (Ingrid) Tulp
Biography
I am a dedicated researcher with broad scientific interests and a solid background in both fundamental and applied marine ecological research. With more than 25 years of experience, I work on a wide range of ecological questions concerning various animal groups in the marine environment.
During my PhD research, I focused on the effects of breeding‑season timing in Arctic‑breeding shorebirds in the Russian Arctic, in relation to climate change. Since 2002, I have been employed at Wageningen Marine Research, where I work on a broad spectrum of applied marine‑ecological issues at the interface of nature conservation and human use in coastal areas, the delta, and the Wadden Sea.
I am also actively involved in research in the Arctic, including a project on the migration of Arctic‑breeding seabirds. I have extensive experience with policy‑relevant research and scientific advising, and over the years I have built a strong network within the Wadden Sea and other Dutch coastal waters. This allows me to stay well informed about relevant ecological and societal developments in these regions.
Within the Waddentools‑Swimway programme, I have served as scientific coordinator. I supervise several PhD candidates in their research on fish ecology in Dutch waters.
