Biography
Gabriel Sigmund is an Associate Professor in the micropollutant Group at ETE. Gabriel´s research aims to better understand and predict contaminant sorption, mobility and persistence in engineered- (e.g. sorbent filled reactors), as well as natural environments (e.g. soil passage), and to use those insights to improve risk assessment for organic compounds as well as the environmental footprint and performance of water treatment technologies. His work also frequently touches on the science-policy interface on chemical pollution.
Roles in scientific societies
Head of expert committee on persistent, mobile, and toxic (PMT) organic contaminants in the German Water Chemistry Society
Board member in the International Panel on Chemical Pollution (www.ipcp.ch)
Steering Committee Member SETAC Interest Group " Persistence Science’
